Get to know the psychologists at Inlight Psychology, Bondi Junction.
What do you enjoy most about being a psychologist?
I am naturally very curious and love getting to know people, both in my personal and professional life. I feel privileged to be in a position where I get to hear about people’s most inner thoughts and feelings, and there is always something new to learn from each person. I feel that this role helps me have much stronger and more meaningful connections with others in all aspects of my life.
What inspired you to open up your own clinic?
I wanted to create something of my own that reflected my strongest values as a therapist and director. I have seen too many high pressure clinics run in a way that I believe is detrimental to both clinicians and clients. It was so important to me to create a safe and relaxing space, where my clinicians could feel supported and connected with each other. I believe that happy therapists, that have a good work-life balance, can be much more available to their clients and provide a much better service.
If there was one quick thing you could say to people out there who might be struggling with mental health issues, what would that be?
I would say that you are not alone and that there is so much hope for change. Sometimes it is hard to work it out on your own. There’s no shame in that. Often the solution that a person keeps trying to use to “fix” their issue, is actually the thing that keeps them stuck or unable to change. It’s the same mind, that both feels the problem and produces what it believes to be the right answer to that problem. Therapy is about stepping out of the mindset and looking at things from other perspectives, to come up with healthier or more effective ways of dealing with the difficulties that arise in one’s life.
