Q & A with Isabella Rossettin, Psychologist

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

Isabella is a warm, compassionate, and vibrant psychologist who greatly enjoys working with youth and young adults.

She has a strong interest in adolescent issues, sexuality, gender, LGBTQIA+, emotion regulation, relationship and interpersonal issues. More generally, she also works with anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and attachment difficulties.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with youth and young adults?

A: Adolescence and young adulthood can be a time of change, excitement, growth and challenges. It is also a time when our brains are still developing and changing.

I like working with young adults because I get to witness the power of the young mind and get to help people navigate through the difficulties of this period. We also like to have a bit of fun in sessions and are creative with how we do therapy.

Q: What sorts of topics do you discuss with clients and how do you help clients talk about subjects that might be stigmatised?

A: I often speak to my clients about relationships, gender, and sexuality. These topics can be taboo and stigmatised, so I ensure we have a safe and welcoming environment, where clients feel comfortable talking about anything.

Q: What are some of your favourite emotion regulation and distress tolerance strategies?

A: One of my favourite emotional regulation strategies is exercise. You will often find me going for a coastal walk or a gym class when I feel stressed. I also enjoy meditation and journaling and try to do these daily.
